A few folks did have some questions regarding my downtown studio.  I have NO plans currently to leave my downtown studio space.  My studio is perfect for photographing newborns and babies.  It is also my sanctuary….my creative haven where I can store all my props and feed my addiction to photography.  Based on the many wonderful comments I receive when you all come to visit, I think you must love the Uppercase studio as well!  Honestly, someone would have to pry the keys to this place out of my hands.

Speaking of the studio, the space was full of adorableness the day these two twin brothers came for their session.  When twins come to the studio, I am typically expecting smaller babies in the six pound and under range.  But not these handsome boys!  Both of them were near 8 pounds at birth and we joked that they were like little men at their session.  They were strong, healthy and completely gorgeous boys.  It was a pleasure for Lina and me to spend the morning with them and their parents.

Prepare yourself for a complete overshare…they were just so cute.

I am now accepting maternity and newborn session reservations for September through December. I will open the calendar for other sessions in September through December soon.  It is helpful for me to get fall schedules for my daughters first so that I know which days they have performances, etc.  If you would like to be placed on a list of people who will be emailed FIRST when the calendar opens please send your request to julie@uppercasephotography.com.  I am keeping a list of people who are interested and they will be the first to be notified that the calendar spots are open.

Adding a new member to your family is such a momentous occasion and when something is really important, you want the absolute best right?  When your child is sick, you take them to your pediatrician who specializes in treating children.  When you are buying an outfit for a special occasion, you will likely forgo Target (though make no mistake, I do love Target) and search out just the right outfit at a specialty shop.  When you want excellent seafood, you don’t go to a buffet that serves a wide variety of food, you go to a restaurant that specializes in yummy seafood.

Choosing a photographer for your baby’s first year is very similar.  If someone shoots weddings and boudoir, teens and family reunions, oh and newborns too…they may not be the right person for everyone searching for a baby photographer.  I want to be the photographer for those who are looking for someone who specializes in babies…someone who devotes all of their time and artistic vision to producing the best in newborn/baby photography.

I know babies well and  I find much joy in capturing them.  When newborns sessions are complete, parents are often in awe of how calm and relaxed their baby was during the session.  They jokingly ask if I can come over at 2am and work my “magic.”  Since my youngest daughter is almost 5, I gave up 2am wake up calls a few years ago.  However, I do want to spend more of my time “working my  magic.”  And that is just what I plan to do.

Now, if you are a client who has been returning to Uppercase Photography since your own children were babies, I am forever grateful for your support of my business.  I will be holding limited spots in my schedule for returning clients.  Be on the lookout for announcements regarding openings and book quickly as there will be fewer spots for older children and families.  But know that I would never want to miss out on watching those children whom I photographed as babies grow in front of my lens.

Did you know?  I now offer a “digital only” session.  The Simply Digital session means that you pay your session fee to reserve your spot on my calendar and then on session day you pay your remaining balance.  After your session, you receive an image box with 5×7 reference prints and a disc of high resolution images from your session.  This type of session requires no ordering appointment and no purchase of prints/products.  Just as the name implies….it is simply the purchase of the digital images from your session.  If you are interested in pricing or further details about Simply Digital sessions please email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com.

The sweet baby boy I’m sharing with you today, however, actually arrived in January.  Yes, I am a bit behind in sharing images but I couldn’t let these slip by without sharing.  Meet Mr. L.

In addition to the parade of newborns coming through the studio, I have begun shooting some outdoor sessions as well.  The weather is warming and everything seems to be blooming right now!  I also enjoy meeting previous Uppercase newborns for six month sessions, one year sessions and beyond!

April is currently fully booked.  I have a few openings in May and am now booking summer sessions as well for June, July and August.  If you are interested in a session, please email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com.  It is best to book your newborn session BEFORE your baby’s arrival.  Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule, I have had to turn a few newborns away recently who did not book ahead of time.  I want to meet and photograph each family that contacts me with a newborn, so please email or call while you are still expecting.

The pouring rain on maternity session day kept us from capturing outdoor images, but even if the sun wasn’t shining, this mom-to-be certainly was.

When they returned to the studio with Baby G, it was like they were introducing him to a friend.  He was just as beautiful “on the outside” as that perfect little baby belly.

Baby G came back to the studio once more as we gathered to view his images and place his order.  I declared him the little man who grew the most in his first few months.  It was amazing to see how much he had grown!  I hope to see him again as soon as he is sitting up and share his growth with you as well.

At each twin session, I focus on capturing some images of each baby separately.  They are twins, but each one is certainly unique and one of a kind.

But the real treat during twins sessions is always the images of them together.  Lina, who often travels from Raleigh to lend a hand during twin sessions, and I have noticed that each set of twins we’ve photographed just love to snuggle together.  They seems more calm and relaxed when close to their twin.  These precious sisters were no exception.

This particular “sitting up” session was twice the fun, with twins C and L.  You may remember their amazing newborn session seen HERE.  It was such a treat to see them again and see how they’ve grown.  C and L each have their own little looks and personalities that came shining through this session.
