So am I sitting here all snuggled up, children all tucked in bed, and waiting for the much anticipated snowstorm to arrive. While waiting, I am working on some photos I took of my oldest daughter, Grace, over the weekend and thinking of how much she is growing up. She turned eight on February 19th and we survived our first slumber party last weekend. So this weekend I decided to take a few portraits to mark her eight year milestone. As I sit here going through the photos I can just see these changes that will be coming soon. She is in second grade right now, the very grade that was my favorite when I was teaching. I tried third grade one year and it just wasn’t the same–the kids change so much that third grade year. Since I can’t actually freeze time (and I’m sure I will truly enjoy watching her grow and change) what I CAN do is capture who she is right now.
So here is Grace…eight years old, loves a meal of ham with green beans and mashed potatoes, has changed her favorite color from pink to green, collects Littlest Pet Shop pets, hates talking on the phone but LOVES talking in person, is overly sensitive and cries easily (just like her mama), loves “soft” clothes, has read every Junie B. Jones book at least twice, tans to the most gorgeous brown in the summer, loves dance class, has a love/hate relationship with her little sisters, loves to draw and write, wants to be an artist or a teacher (or maybe an art teacher ) when she grows up, is 100% a daddy’s girl, has eyelashes to die for, plays a mean Eye of the Tiger on Guitar Hero, is right in the middle of the “awkward teeth” phase..
These are the things I’ll think of when I look back at these photos …and that is exactly the reason why I do what I do and why I feel so honored that you would choose ME to do that for YOU.
