Greensboro, Winston Salem Newborn Baby Photography | What to Wear

My fall outdoor schedule is all booked up and I can’t wait to see so many of you outside in the beautiful fall scenery.  The most common question I get for outdoor sessions is “What do we wear?!”  And boy don’t I know that stress of dressing a family for a portrait session.  One tip I often give clients is to throw in a little unexpected accessory or two.  It doesn’t have to make an appearance in all images, but it can add a little something unique and bring some personality to your images.  For girls it seems easier…..add in a fun scarf or piece of jewelry, maybe a cute headband and your good to go.  But what about for boys?

Asher here is always super cool for his photo sessions and his mom does a wonderful job with his session outfits!  In his two year old session there were lots of things to love about his clothing.  I love mom’s choice of shades of blue that compliment all the summer greenery and her subtle use of pattern.  Too much pattern can be overwhelming but with the simple field background and the simple blue color choices, the pattern here works great.  And to top it all off with a little personality, the vest and the hat were absolutely perfect and unexpected.

Now are seersucker and shades of blue going to work for your fall outdoor sessions?  Probably not.  But the concepts are still the same.  Use some neutrals that work with the fall color (tan, brown, cream, olive green) and add in a touch of personality with a punch of sparingly used color (mustard yellow, orange, teal, red) or some fun accessories (scarf, hat, jewelry, boots.)
