Capture, Enjoy, Repeat

I love when clients enjoy their experience with Uppercase Photography enough come to back again.  It is a pleasure to watch little ones grow and change and their new stages.  I first photographed Ava , seen here, when she had barely turned three.  It took about two seconds for me to completely fall in love with her.  I dare say she has that effect on most people who meet her.  I’ve seen her in front of my camera a few times since then.  In fact, this was the fifth time I have photographed Ava.  On the day of this session, I was chatting with a photographer friend on the phone.  She asked if I ever felt like I had done all I knew to do with Miss Ava.  She’s seen all my tricks, used all my props, been to all my locations and it must all be old news.  I thought about it for a moment and then answered, “Not at all.”  Why?  Because every time I see her, SHE is different.  I had last photographed Ava in May and she had changed so very much since then!  Yes, she still has the longest blonde hair ever and a smile that lights a room, but this time she seemed so much more like a big kid.  I know mom might hate to hear that.

Look at how much she is growing up:

She has jokes now and her own tricks and she totally cracks herself up. :)

She also introduced me to a couple of old friends, one of which is shown below.  Her friend is twelve and I know that inevitably this photo will become even more treasured in time.

Can’t you see her growing in these shots below?  She looks ready to take on the world and she’ll get the chance next fall when she starts Kindergarten!  The world better watch out. :)

As Ava’s mom, grandmother and I sat in the studio to complete their order, I was telling her about how much this sweet thing was growing up, but pointed out that she still had a little reminder of toddlerhood in this photo…those chubby little toddler fingers.  I wonder if they will change as well by the time she is back in front of my camera again?

It really happens so fast doesn’t it, though it is hard to take it all in when your in the midst of it all.  They grow and though it’s hard to “say goodbye” to their stages, each new one is a wonderful surprise.  Maybe it’s just a little easier to watch them grow when you’ve captured who they are right now.  Maybe I’m just feeling a little nostalgic today. :)

Thanks H family for the pleasure of watching Ava grow through my lens.  I hope capture her growth for many years to come.
