To tell the story of this session, I actually have to start at the end. These two boys, ages one year and three, were so sweet and adorable. But like any young boys, by the end of the session they were starting to get tired of the photo process. So in an attempt to get them to sit close enough together I took the three year old’s hand and put it behind his brother and said “Here, pretend that hand is stuck there like glue.” We both looked at each other and I could see in his eyes that I had met a Sugarland fan. You see, my daughter had been finishing up a school production and the final number in the play was Sugarland’s Stuck Like Glue. We’d been singing the song around the house for weeks and I could tell by the look on this three year old’s face that he knew the song as well. I sang it for him as we got the shots we needed and it was just that little connection we needed to finish up the session with laughs and giggles as planned. I love it when those little connections happen during a session!
And “stuck like glue” describes this family just perfectly. They were so happy and loving together and just shined in front of my lens. This was truly one of my favorite sessions of the year. The entire process was such a pleasure, from meeting before the session to discuss locations and outfits to helping them choose the perfect frames and canvases for their prints. It fills my heart to know that even though one day far away this family may be scattered about with boys off to college or making lives of their own….they will forever have these images to cherish the time when they were all very happily “stuck like glue.”
