The Unexpected | Winston Salem Photographer

I am continuing to book beach sessions and local sessions for the summer.  Please email me for my current availability and more information at julie@uppercasephotography.com

Anyone who knows me well, knows I am a girl who likes a plan.  I like to know what to expect.  But when working with toddlers, it’s what you don’t expect that can be the most fun!  You just have to embrace the adventure and see where it leads you.

Miss K came for the final session of her baby plan.  She was not just walking, but running, and “in rare form” as her mommy put it.  She was so much fun!

winstonsalemphotographer021

But of course the shot from her session that appeals to me most was when she stopped all her hilarious antics and gave me the most stunning look, which I processed with a little vintage.  I am in love with vintage lately!

winstonsalemchildrenphotographer01

And this sweet Miss K, we had imagined her session in blooming daffodils.  Apparently Miss K is not a fan of daffodils, which she promptly let us know when we plopped her down in a patch.  But no worries, she LOVED frolicking in the tall grass and singing songs with me….no daffodils required. :)

winstonsalemchildrenphotographer03

winstonsalemchildrenphotographer04

And a little more vintage….did I mentioned I’m obsessed with it lately. :) winstonsalemchildrenphotographer05

Yes, sometimes the unexpected can work out even better than the plan.  Similarly, it seems all my friends are currently obsessed with Twilight.  But my newest obsession (besides the vintage processing) is a show on the History Channel called Madhouse.  Have you ever watched it?  I’ll bet some of my local readers have seen it too.  My husband turned it on one evening and I never would have expected to love it….but I am hooked.  It’s my guilty TV pleasure.  What’s your current TV obsession?  Leave a comment and let me know.

March 24, 2010 - 12:23 pm Tori Piercy - Vintage suits you nicely :) Geez, I can't even pick a favorite- they are all stunning!

March 23, 2010 - 5:28 pm Ashley - LOVE the one of her in the box! That is my favorite!!!

March 23, 2010 - 5:10 pm Terra - love these and love the first vintage shot, its perfect! Love the variety you got!

March 23, 2010 - 12:29 pm Lisa Kryschuk - Such gorgeous work! Just stunning!

March 23, 2010 - 10:56 am Lina - I adore the vintage one. Looks awesome! Superb work as always with all of them. And just for the record, there is nothing wrong with Twilight Saga. TV shows come and go, Edward is forever :)

March 23, 2010 - 10:25 am megan parker - The one with the headband and the crate is awesome!

March 23, 2010 - 7:34 am Laurie Simonds - Love so many of them, can't pick a favorite, nice work!!!

March 22, 2010 - 4:31 pm Brandi-lee - These just blow me away Julie, so lovely, especially the one in the wooden box, your lighting and prcessing on these are gorgeous. As far as tv shows, anything that has to do with house revovations I love, I sit there and dream of all the ideas I can do....and of course never do them!! Oh well, I can dream.

March 22, 2010 - 4:24 pm upper - Michelle, you are so right! I feel so guilty watching a show that portrays our town as a bunch of rednecks....but it is oh so entertaining! :) And you Housewives girls...my friend introduced me to that show when we were in Hawaii. Now that you mention it I may have to rediscover it during late night editing. :)

March 22, 2010 - 4:19 pm Michelle Bennett - I hate to admit it.....but I like Madhouse, too! Not in love with it....and can't believe I support anything that makes everyone from W-S look like a total redneck - but it's very entertaining! I LOVE House Hunters! And now that I've discovered it - I want to redo my whole house! :) Love the pics!

March 22, 2010 - 4:11 pm Ramsey - I love these. The processing is so smooth.

March 22, 2010 - 4:02 pm Trina - Beautiful! I love your lighting in the outdoor ones and you are rocking the vintage processing!

March 22, 2010 - 3:14 pm this n that - GORGEOUS!! As always of course! :0) -Shellie

March 22, 2010 - 3:13 pm Shelby - Housewives on Bravo.. I should be ashamed of myself. Wow.. Miss K. is getting so big! Beautiful eyes... !

Babies…and the beach | Winston Salem, Greensboro Photography

What do babies and the beach have in common?  Well, not much besides they are both topics covered in this post.  The March babies booked on my calendar are starting to arrive and I couldn’t be happier.  Sweet, adorable babies to photograph as the weather is working hard on becoming spring outside.  My wonderful father-in-law has been helping me find some “old but new to me” items for my newborn sessions and trying them out has been so much fun.  There is something just perfect about an old and weathered prop paired with a fresh and new life.

Beautiful, Beautiful Boy | Winston Salem Photography

I’ve been getting my “baby boy fix” this past week with these adorable little newborns.

Mr. W was 11 days old and brought along his wonderful big sister Miss. A.  She was one of the sweetest and most patient big sisters I’ve ever met, especially at the young age of three.

winstonsalemphotographer02

winstonsalemphotographer03

My tribute to spring….hurry up and arrive please, spring!

winstonsalemphotographer01

Mr. J was 16 days old and had the most expressive little face….and that hair!

greensborophotographer03

greensborophotographer01

greensborophotographer02

Mr. J’s mom and dad were so in love with their new arrival and it was beautiful to watch the three of them together.

greensborophotographer04

If spring ever decides to arrive, I will be busy shooting all of the spring sessions that are scheduled.  My calendar is filled for March, April and May with the exception of maternity and newborn sessions.  I will be announcing beach session dates soon and I can’t wait.  I love capturing families on the beach each summer!

If you came out to the Children’s Boutique Resale, thanks so much for stopping by my table.  It was a pleasure to meet so many new locals and introducing you to my photography.  I hope you’ll continue to check out the updates on the blog and follow the Uppercase journey.

They Dont’ Stay Little | Winston Salem Newborn Photographer

Isn’t it amazing how fast they grow?  I registered just ONE of my three kids for preschool this morning….because the other two will be in elementary school together in the fall.  How can this be possible, I wonder?

Seems like just yesterday they were tiny little peanuts like baby boy B.

winstonsalemnewbornphotographer041

winstonsalemnewbornphotographer031

Look at this beautiful new family….I didn’t think mom could be more stunning than she was at her maternity session, but I think motherhood suits her even more.

winstonsalemnewbornphotographer

And of course nothing warms the heart more than a daddy with his tiny baby.

winstonsalemnewbornphotographer021

This family will seemingly just blink and their little peanut will be sitting and laughing like Mr. S.

winstonsalemchildrenphotographer01

winstonsalemchildrenphotographer02

And soon enough, Mr. S will be celebrating his first birthday like Mr. A.

winstonsalemphotographer022

winstonsalemphotographer011

Did you notice Mr. A’s Rolling Stone’s t-shirt?  I’ll bet his parents will blink and Mr. A will be attending his first concert.  It really does seem to happen that fast, doesn’t it?  Don’t forget to capture it….each adorable little stage that defines your precious one’s babyhood.  Because you and I both know, they don’t stay little. :)

C is for Cute | Greensboro, Winston Salem Maternity, Newborn Photographer

There has been so much cuteness in the studio lately!

Mr. C returned for his nine month session.  He still has a smile that just lights up a room. :)

greensborophotographer

My how fun it is to watch them grow.  I can’t wait to see Mr. C back in May as we celebrate his first birthday!

And Miss C also came for a visit.  At 10 days old, she had the most beautiful, creamy skin and a head full of dark hair.  Mom and Grandma were so relaxed and patient as I worked with Miss C to get some beautiful poses.

Twice the Sweetness | Greensboro, Winston Salem Newborn Photographer

It was still cold and icy outside, but once inside the home of newborn twins L and M my heart instantly melted.  My friend and fabulous fellow photographer, Lina Jarmond, joined me in photographing these 9 day old beauties.  We could have stayed and photographed them all day….in fact, we almost did!  L and M were just so adorable and loved to snuggle together.

winstonsalemnewbornphotographer01

As you can see, they are not identical so it was easy to tell them apart during the session (and the editing, yay!)

winstonsalemnewbornphotographer05

And, of course, they each had to be the star of the show for a few shots:

Snow Days | Greensboro Children’s Photographer

Are you going a little stir crazy yet?  WE ARE!  Still no school and the snow is turning to slushy, “no fun” mush.  We are trying to make the best of it and make use of the great hooded jackets the little girls received as a gift.  At first I thought these were a bit over-the-top for winter in NC….well, how wrong  I was this year!  They are great fun for pictures as well.
