Here I Grow… | Winston Salem Photographer

I know, I’m a blog posting machine here lately, but I wanted to be sure to share these recent sessions before we head off tomorrow for a little Spring Break trip!  I have had a great time seeing little ones in the studio this week.

Newborn Scott was such a sweetheart–sleeping for a while and then blessing us with some calm, awake time as well.

I call this next shot “a baby divided” because it reminded me of those car tags you see that say “a house divided,” when Mom and Dad support different sports teams.  Mom is a Clemson grad and dad is an NC State grad…we’ll have to wait and see what team baby Scott chooses (psst–baby Scott–Go Pack!). :)

Three month old Townly brought her parents and her big brother to the studio for her session.  She also brought some of the cutest outfits!  She was such a smiley girl, even in her sleep.

I had not seen six month old Lauren since her marathon newborn session so I knew she was going to have grown so much.  She was sitting, saying “Hi Da Da,” and giving huge smiles to show off her little bottom tooth.  I had so much fun with her!

Finally Outside | Greensboro, Winston Salem Photographer

My husband was watching some TV special about Noah’s ark the other night.  With all the rain we’ve had I think he was contemplating whether he needed to get started on an ark of his own!  But finally on Sunday the clouds parted just in time for a two year session with my neice, Paige.  I love photographing Paige.  Not only is she adorably cute and spunky but my sister is always open to my ideas for the sessions.  When I told her I thought Paige should have some sassy images to match her little personality, my sister didn’t bat an eye.  She happily purchased a hot pink tutu, black shirt (with Paige’s famous P monogram), and polka dot rain boots so she could meet me downtown in front of a dilapitated  building…yep, I think my sister trusts me. :)  Of course, we also brought a few other outfits and headed to a more traditional spot and I LOVE those images too.  Variety is the spice of life, after all.

And Paige, she didn’t care what we dressed her in…as long as we had a very steady supply of gummy bears. :)

Anticipation… | Winston Salem Maternity Photographer

I don’t think there is a more exciting time in life than when you are expecting the arrival of a precious little one.  The anticipation…will he have his father’s eyes, her mother’s smile.  The joy of preparing…baby showers, decorating the nursery.  It was my pleasure to capture this joy for an expectant mother recently.  I think she definitely has “that glow” about her, don’t you?  I can’t wait to meet and photograph her new bundle when he/she arrives!

Eggs and Bunnies and Chicks…Oh My! | Winston Salem Photographer

The weather outside can’t decide if spring has sprung or not…but it’s definitely spring here in the studio!  We have included a few Easter themed shots in my last few studio sessions.  The children have all just loved the eggs, baskets, and chicks and they made for some sweet portraits.

Little Blessings | Greensboro Photographer

Tory and the girls headed off to church this morning while I stayed at home for a session.  It is very rare for me to book a session on a Sunday morning, but this wasn’t just any session….this session was 10 day old newborn twins!  Now that the session is complete, I am positive that no church service could have left me feeling more blessed than I was after spending a few hours with these little ones.  There were just amazing–adorable, sleepy, perfectly posable and accompanied by the most loving parents.  Watching them snuggle together perfectly content to be with each other just filled my heart.  I hope these images convey that same feeling for you…

Meet Elena & Andrew:

I think this one below is my favorite of them together.  They were perfectly content in this position and could have stayed there for hours I think.

And of course a couple of them each being the “star.”

Elena had the most delicate and girly features…there was definitely no mistaking her for her brother.

popolitwinsnewborn6blog

Andrew was such a good sport letting his sister lay all over him.  Since he is about a pound heavier he was on the bottom for most of the poses.  He had his sweet revenge by peeing on pretty much every blanket in the studio–lots of laundry for me this afternoon. :)

And their parents–totally in love with their new little bundles.  What joy they have ahead of them watching these two grow up!

Wonderful One

Miss Peyton, one of my cute little baby plan babies, celebrated her first birthday recently.  I have had the pleasure of photographing Peyton as a newborn, at three months, six months, nine months, and now at her first birthday.  It is one of the greatest joys of my job, capturing babies as they grow during their first year.  I just love seeing how their personalities develop!  It’s bittersweet when they come in for their one year session since I know I won’t get to see them quite as often after the baby plan is complete.  But if I’m lucky they come back at least once or twice a year for updated portraits.  In Peyton’s family’s case, they are awaiting the arrival of a little brother in the next couple of months so we get to do it all over again–yay!

The Girls | Winston Salem, NC Photographer

As I mentioned in my last post, I took my girls out to Reynolda House last weekend to snag a few portraits of them in their Easter attire while the weather was so beautiful.  I had their dresses made by a talented clothing designer on etsy.  If you’ve never visited etsy before…you should! (www.etsy.com) It is a website similar to ebay but only for handmade items.  You can find some of the most unique and wonderful things, but be forewarned that it can be addicting. :)  The person who made these dresses for the girls also has a website (www.trendysisters.com) with wonderful handmade clothing items.  The clothes are a GREAT quality and she will work with you to customize so you get just what you want.  I love that my girls dresses are of coordinating, but not exactly  matching, fabric and that the trim of one dress is made with the main fabric of another dress.

I used the image below to finally order myself a new photo handbag.  Poor Stella  is not on my current handbag and the “mommy guilt” finally got to me as people started to ask me wasn’t I missing one on my bag.  She is one and a half now after all.  But that speaks to the quality of the photo handbags I offer…I kept waiting for it to wear out so I could order a new one, but two years later it just continues to look great!

More Twins | Winston Salem Photographer

I mentioned that March was the “month of the twins,” right?  Saturday morning brought another set of adorable twins–this time three month old boys.  Noah and Nicholas just stole my heart the moment their parents brought them into the studio.  They were peacefully napping in their carseats, but when they woke I was so excited by their beautiful baby blues and their rosy skin.  As has been the case with all twins I have photographed, one of them was the “loud and active” one and the other was the “calm and easygoing” one…but I bet you can’t tell from the photos because they both did such a fabulous job!

These two cuties were a great way to start a wonderful weekend!  I hope all of you had the opportunity to enjoy the fabulous weather.  Of course I NEEDED to get outside to take some photographs…it’s been a long winter couped up inside…so I drug the girls to Reynolda Village in their Easter dresses (some of those to come on the blog soon).  I also enjoyed a photography conference yesterday in Raleigh.  While it was a bit of a bummer to be stuck inside listening to a speaker on such a beautiful day, it was worth it.  It is very inspiring to surround yourself with others who share the same passion and listen to the insight of a very successful photographer.

This weekend marks the official beginning of outdoor sessions for 2009-yay!  I have been a busy little bee booking sessions for April through September, so be sure to contact me if you are interested in a session…I love hearing from all of you!

Double The Fun | Winston Salem Photographer

If you’ve been to the studio lately, you’ve probably seen the image of the sleeping twins that is displayed above my fireplace.  People always comment on how cute they are (and how did we get them to sleep at the same time!) often.  Well those adorable twin girls were about 3 months old in the sleeping twins photo, but now they are turning ONE!  There definitely wasn’t any sleeping at their one year session–it was all fun!  Can you believe how much these cuties have grown…

marionblog1

I love the hint of hot pink peeking out from the lining of their jeans in these next two photos…I don’t know why, I just think it adds a little something to the shots. :)

Then it was time for double the fun with some birthday cake!  They dove right in and Miss Alyssa (with the lighter hair and eyes) ate pretty much the entire cupcake.  Alexis (darker hair and eyes) was more of an icing kind of girl–me to0, Alexis, me too. :)

March is turning out to be “the month of the twins” here at the studio so look for more twin cuties on the blog soon.  I am still looking for a set of newborn twins less than 14 days old for a complimentary session so if you know of anyone, please pass along my information to them.

Hope you all enjoyed the snow and are preparing to enjoy the spring-like weather this weekend!

March 23, 2009 - 4:54 pm Susan - I love the cupcake pictures...I look forward to that session.

March 9, 2009 - 1:59 pm Shannon Brenner - I LOVE the last picture in this set. They are so cute!!!
