It’s almost THAT time.  Can you believe that summer is winding down and school is starting?  It seems like it went extra quickly this year.  I guess it always does.  And while I will miss the vacations and time spent with family, there is much to look forward to this fall.  Fall is by far my busiest time of year!  I am now accepting session appointments for all fall sessions. If you are interested in a 2013 session please email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com right away to secure your spot.  Space is limited, especially for outdoor sessions showcasing that beautiful fall color.

In addition to booking fall sessions, I am offering a couple of wonderful opportunities to my clients this fall.

Free Mini Maternity Sessions

All clients who prebook their newborn session between now and September 30 (can be due at any time) will be given the opportunity for a free mini maternity session.  Please email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com for all the details.

Holiday Mini Sessions

I have already had lots of clients asking if I will be doing holiday mini sessions again this year and the answer is YES!  I will be hosting holiday mini sessions at the studio on November 1st and 2nd (public school is out on the 1st as well so the big kids can come too!)  These mini sessions will be 20 minutes in length and I will have two holiday “sets” to choose from.  One set will be holiday bedding on the studio bed, perfect for holiday pajama pics!  The other set will be a “White Christmas” theme with a simple, white setup and simple holiday decor.  I hope to get some sample images of these sets out soon to those who are interested.  Holiday mini sessions are appropriate for children and babies ages 3 months and older.  These sessions are $49 and you will be given two package options for online purchase after the session.  The images will be perfect for holiday cards and gifts.  Please email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com to inquire about further details and book your spot.  Space is limited and there has been a lot of interest in these already so if you want a spot, email now.

Picture Perfect | Winston Salem Photographer

The absolutely perfect Miss M and her family were the very first session in the new studio space back in June.  Newborn sessions don’t typically make me nervous.  I’ve photographed hundreds of new babies and feel very relaxed during sessions with newborns.  But I must admit the first newborn session in a new space is enough to make even a very experienced newborn photographer nervous.  Everything is just a little different….the lighting, the space, the prop storage, the heat….everything.  But I had no reason to be nervous with Miss M.  She was the perfect little model and never even woke during her session.  She could have cared less that we were in a new space.  I told her at the end of the session that she christened the new studio with sleep, happy baby vibes.  Perfect!  Here are a few of my favorites from her session.

These little bloomers are made from Mommy’s wedding dress, which she sat and sewed while I shot the rest of the session.  How awesome is that?!

I do believe these first shots ever taken on the studio bed of this mommy and baby are what made me fall in love with it.  So sweet and beautiful. <3

Updates:

I will be away from the studio August 2-11th and again August 15-18th.  A girl has to get in summer vacations while she can!  School and the busy fall season will be upon us so shortly.  Please feel free to email me while I am away.  I will return all correspondence as soon as possible.

I have had several people ask if I will be having Holiday mini sessions this year.  I do plan to have some mini sessions and have already begun planning a couple of sweet sets for the studio.  They will likely be in late October/early November with specific dates coming soon.  Mini sessions will be held in the studio only so if you are interested in beautiful outdoor fall images, you will need to book a full session.

I am planning a wonderful little special for expectant mommies, which will be announced when I return from vacation.  So if you are expecting, keep an eye open for the special.  If you are not, let all your pregnant friends know to watch out for a sweet deal.

Tiny Blessings | Greensboro Newborn Baby Photographer

It is always a special day when I have the opportunity to capture twins.  But this session felt a little extra special.  Knowing this family’s story, I knew these babies were truly tiny blessings to their family. This little duo also happened to be the very last session I photographed at my Trade St. studio before the move.  I will always remember the first session there (little Yates who is sure to be such a big boy now) and now this session will always hold those special memories as well.  Little H and J were absolutely perfect.  They hardly made a peep the entire session and really loved snuggling together.  And as is obvious by this first picture, they really love their big brother W too.

You’ve heard me talk about my love for the bed I have set up at the new studio in West End.  Here’s your opportunity to come experience it!  Uppercase Photography will be hosting “Studio Bed Mini Sessions” on July 9th and 10th at the studio.  This is a great opportunity to come take a peek at the new  location and get a few great images on the bed all at the same time and for a wonderful price.

Event:  Studio Bed Mini Sessions

Dates: July 9th and 10th between the hours of 10am and 3pm

Price:  $49 mini session fee.  Special mini session packages available.  Email for details.

What to Expect:  You will receive a 20 minute mini session on the studio bed (no other sets available for this event) resulting in a online gallery of 8-10 images for purchase at special mini session package pricing.

Who May Attend:  This event is open to children ages 4 months and older.

Hello out there!  It’s been such a whirlwind few weeks moving the studio.  As a newborn photographer, I know I have a lot of “stuff” at my studio to do my job.  There are blankets, props, wraps, hats, equipment, etc.  But, wow, does one really find out just how much stuff they have when they move it all from one location to another.  A HUGE thanks goes out to my husband who did so much of the physical labor of moving (and a thanks also to Tony Horton and Shaun T for putting my husband in the best shape of his life just in time to move all my junk!) :)

I am getting all settled in at 930 West 4th St. now and beginning to have sessions and appointments in the new space.  I have a few more decorating projects to complete and then I look forward to hosting an Open House so everyone can take a peek.  I am also toying with the idea of a mini session event for those who want to check out the new space and get a few fabulous images as well.  So stayed tuned to the blog for details.  Everyone who has stopped by so far is loving the large space and the great location.  I must say I am as well.

There are so so many sessions that I have not yet blogged.  I don’t even know where to start, so I just grabbed some images from one I loved a few months back and decided to start with this adorable brother duo.  I can’t even count now how many times I’ve had the pleasure now of capture more than one child’s newborn images for a family.  I absolutely love it when families return, especially when they have a new addition!  Check out big brother C and his new sidekick Mr. L.  They are both just beyond cute.

I have opened up a few summer spots on my calendar for High School Seniors because, well, they are just FUN to photograph.  If you know a rising senior who needs great portraits this summer, send them my way!

Don’t worry….it’s not THE end, it’s WEST end.  I am thrilled to announce that Uppercase Photography studio is moving to the West End area of downtown Winston Salem.  By June 15th, my new address will be 930 West Fourth Street.  You will find me right across the street from the lovely Grace Court and right beside the delicious West End Cafe!

Now, I know what you are thinking.  You know I love my current studio and I know many of you do as well.  Believe me, it was a tough decision that required many sleepless nights (all you new mommies and daddies probably know a thing or two about those.) But I think we will all enjoy some wonderful benefits the new space has to offer and I can’t wait to share it with you.  Right now, the space is getting a little sprucing up.  New floors are going in as I type and I am spending way too much time on Pinterest searching for just the right paint colors and furnishings.

I just had to fill you all in on the exciting news.  Be sure to check back often to see images of the new space and find out when you can stop by to check it out at an Open House event.  In the meantime, all sessions are proceeding as usual.  I will continue shooting sessions in my current space until everything is ready at the West End studio. I am also continuing to book summer sessions and would love to hear from you at julie@uppercasephotography.com.

Tomorrow is officially the first day of spring, but I am writing this blog post today wrapped in a cozy blanket in front of my computer at the studio.  Spring may be taking a bit longer than usual to arrive this year.  Sweet new babies, however are continuing to arrive just on time (mostly!)

Miss M was such a perfect little love for her session.  I loved all her images, but I think my favorite moment of her session was capturing three generations of beautiful ladies together in one image.

If you are a long time follower of the Uppercase Photography blog, you may recognize the big sister in these images.  I have had the pleasure of photographing Miss K since she was a newborn.  The camera has always loved her (as evidence by her one year session here) and I have always loved spending time with all of her family.  It is so much fun planning her sessions/outfits with mom, capturing that sweet face, and then designing wall displays and albums for their home.  Before the holidays, however, this family became even MORE fun as they welcomed another beautiful baby girl.  I was so excited to meet Miss M and wondered how Miss K would take to sharing the spotlight in front of my camera.  As is evidenced below, she adores her new sister and was happy to show her off to me at the studio.

Have you all been surviving these cold winter days and hints of winter weather?  During these cold and dreary days is a perfect time  to take a look back at the beautiful colors of fall.  Between the gorgeous fall color, the neutral clothing, and the model worthy beautiful family…..this session was easily one of my favorite outdoor sessions this fall.  Nevermind that the police stopped to pay us a visit while we were shooting.  All’s well that ends well right? :)

When Aaron, the dad seen in these images, is not modeling for me he owns his own hardwood floor company.  Hall’s Hardwood Flooring, Inc. refinished and put in new hardwood floors in my home a few months ago.  To say I love the new floors is an understatement.  They have changed the whole look of the house and spurred me to do other redecorating projects so the rest of our home can look as awesome as our floors.  So if you too want to redecorate your whole house to match your awesome hardwood floors, give Aaron a call!
