A stormy, rainy Thursday means I am inside today instead of shooting an outdoor session, but at least it gives me a moment to share more images with you. I had the pleasure of capturing this little princess a while ago. She had the sweetest little baby rolls! Miss L also has such a beautiful family and I loved capturing some parent shots at their session. I am always happy to capture sibling or parent images at a newborn session along with beautiful individual images of your new baby.
As mentioned in my previous post, I am now booking for Summer 2012. If you are interested in a session in June, July or August, please contact me at julie@uppercasephotography.com.
Did you know? I now offer a “digital only” session. The Simply Digital session means that you pay your session fee to reserve your spot on my calendar and then on session day you pay your remaining balance. After your session, you receive an image box with 5×7 reference prints and a disc of high resolution images from your session. This type of session requires no ordering appointment and no purchase of prints/products. Just as the name implies….it is simply the purchase of the digital images from your session. If you are interested in pricing or further details about Simply Digital sessions please email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com.
Wow, has it really been a month since I’ve updated my blog? I wish I could say I have been on some exotic vacation sipping fruity drinks and tanning. But really, I’ve been doing something almost as fun. I’ve been photographing baby after baby after baby….you get the idea. March and April have been filled with newborn sessions and I am enjoying meeting each and every one of them. My day almost doesn’t seem complete anymore without a few hours spent in the super warm studio posing and cuddling a fresh new baby.
The sweet baby boy I’m sharing with you today, however, actually arrived in January. Yes, I am a bit behind in sharing images but I couldn’t let these slip by without sharing. Meet Mr. L.
In addition to the parade of newborns coming through the studio, I have begun shooting some outdoor sessions as well. The weather is warming and everything seems to be blooming right now! I also enjoy meeting previous Uppercase newborns for six month sessions, one year sessions and beyond!
April is currently fully booked. I have a few openings in May and am now booking summer sessions as well for June, July and August. If you are interested in a session, please email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com. It is best to book your newborn session BEFORE your baby’s arrival. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule, I have had to turn a few newborns away recently who did not book ahead of time. I want to meet and photograph each family that contacts me with a newborn, so please email or call while you are still expecting.

It is such pleasure when I am hired to shoot a maternity session and the resulting newborn as well. That was the case with this beautiful family. I first met them at a presession consultation where we chatted about everything from sports to birth plans (and of course ideas for the sessions as well!)
The pouring rain on maternity session day kept us from capturing outdoor images, but even if the sun wasn’t shining, this mom-to-be certainly was.
When they returned to the studio with Baby G, it was like they were introducing him to a friend. He was just as beautiful “on the outside” as that perfect little baby belly.
Baby G came back to the studio once more as we gathered to view his images and place his order. I declared him the little man who grew the most in his first few months. It was amazing to see how much he had grown! I hope to see him again as soon as he is sitting up and share his growth with you as well.
I offer maternity images an a full session or as a mini session add on to your newborn session. Contact me if you would like to discuss maternity and newborn images for your expected arrival.
I had the opportunity recently to capture yet another set of newborn twins. It is truly such a blessing to be asked to photograph so many sets of twins in the past year. Sessions with twins truly do involve double the sweetness and twice the love.
At each twin session, I focus on capturing some images of each baby separately. They are twins, but each one is certainly unique and one of a kind.
But the real treat during twins sessions is always the images of them together. Lina, who often travels from Raleigh to lend a hand during twin sessions, and I have noticed that each set of twins we’ve photographed just love to snuggle together. They seems more calm and relaxed when close to their twin. These precious sisters were no exception.
Are you expecting twins in 2012? Contact me to hear more about my experience in capturing beautiful images of multiples.

Baby T had so many little adorable baby features….a head full of blonde hair, chubby cheeks, but perhaps my favorite of all his features was his little dimpled chin. I loved it and how it made his little face unique!

Parents often ask me about the best times for portraits during their baby’s first year. After the newborn session, I like to see my little clients again when they are sitting up. Typically, there is this magic little stage when babies can sit unassisted but aren’t yet mobile. Granted this magical stages lasts longer for some lucky parents than others, but right in that stage is a wonderful time for baby portraits. The “sitting up” session is usually filled with chubby baby rolls, dimpled hands and feet, curious looks and gummy smiles. The end result is usually some of my favorites portraits during the first year.
This particular “sitting up” session was twice the fun, with twins C and L. You may remember their amazing newborn session seen HERE. It was such a treat to see them again and see how they’ve grown. C and L each have their own little looks and personalities that came shining through this session.

The S family is one of my favorite Uppercase families, so when I heard the news that they were expecting a new addition I was so excited. This family has followed me from their first child’s newborn session in my home studio (where she barely slept a wink!) to the downtown studio….through many fields of weeds and flowers, through parts of Old Salem they surely hadn’t explored before. To say they trust me and my vision as a photographer is an understatement. They are truly ideal clients and are always up for whatever I think would make great portraits for them. Their newest addition’s newborn session was just the same. They relaxed while I did what I love to do….capture a brand new love for them to share. Baby E is a perfect addition to this family…..quiet, relaxed and as sweet as sugar. Meet her:

When this mom stopped by the studio to make final choices for her framed prints she told me that she had been showing off her printed proofs and a family member had asked her which image was her very favorite. She said they are ALL my favorites. I totally agree…there is something to love about each image of her sweet Baby B. No need to choose a favorite, just love them all. :) Here are just a few of the many favorites of Miss B.

You may notice a bit of a new look here on the blog. I am excited to be updating my logo and branding for 2012 and all the components of the new look are in progress. Working with a designer, we have created a new vision for Uppercase Photography and I can’t wait to complete the “transformation.” Please bear with me as things are a bit in limbo currently with some aspects taking longer than others to switch to the new U. I hope to have a new website and all the new materials completed before the weather warms up for outside sessions. Until then, please pardon the mess during the changes.
One thing that hasn’t changed for 2012 is the love of capturing fresh, new babies. Baby D was actually the last newborn I photographed in 2011 on December 30th and he was such a great way to end a fabulous year. His mom and dad were so wonderful and up for intimate portraits of them with their new little love.
Stay tuned on the blog, website and facebook page to see the completed new look for Uppercase photography and to see many more babies featured. I have so many more beautiful babies I have captured to share.
A few announcements/updates:
It’s not too late to take advantage of the Snow Babies special if you are currently expecting. Prebook your newborn session before the end of February for a special offer. Email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com for details.
I am continuing to book spring sessions and so looking forward to seeing so many of my newborns back for six month and one year sessions. If you are interested in a spring session please email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com. Spaces are limited.
Can you believe it’s time to start thinking about summer beach portraits? It’s been such a mild winter that we feel we are still waiting for winter to truly arrive. But before we know it school will be out and it will be time to capture families having fun at the beach. I look forward to booking a select few families each year for beach portraits and this year I will be in the Oak Island area July 15-20th and the Myrtle Beach area August 4-9th. If you are interested in a beach session please email me for details at julie@uppercasephotography.com.
