I love when expectant parents book the maternity/newborn combo. Capturing pregnant mommies is always so fun. They are glowing and excited, eager to chat about all the new experiences that pregnancy brings. Isn’t pregnancy a beautiful thing?
Then when baby arrives and they come back to the studio for the newborn session, it’s like seeing old friends again. Only this time there is a new little miracle to gush over. I love marveling at all their beautiful details. Each newborn is like the others in many ways but yet unique.
If you are interested in more information about the maternity/newborn package email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com for details.

If you know me or you’ve read the “About Me” section of my website, then you know that at one time I was a teacher. I loved it and like to think I was pretty good at it. :) Recently, my friend Lina and I had the opportunity to be teachers. We hosted a workshop experience for several photographers from across the US focusing on newborn photography. It was such a fun and rewarding experience! A total of six adorable models came to the studio and each of them did such a fantastic job. Here are just a few captures from our experience together:
Miss K, at 13 days old (who also happens to be my neice!)
Mr. L at 8 days old
Miss H at 12 days old
Mr M at 12 days old
Mr. S at 10 days old
And finally, Mr. M, our youngest model at 5 days old
Thanks again to the parents who volunteered their precious bundles to model and to the wonderful photographers who came to share in the experience.

I am pleased to announce Uppercase Photography’s Mommy & Me Mini-Session Event! I know that moms are usually the ones behind the camera capturing their family and sometimes I wonder if my children will look back on photos of their childhood and wonder if I even existed. So these minis are designed to get you in FRONT of the camera with your little cutie(s.) They are open to Moms with children of ANY age. Here are the details:
Take advantage of this wonderfully priced special and make sure your kids have photo evidence that you existed (and loved them very much!) during their childhood. Images from these minis would also make the perfect Father’s Day gift!
Need an afternoon time slot on April 8th instead? Email me to see if I am available during a time that works for you.
Space is limited so please email me at julie@uppercasephotography.com for further details or to reserve your spot.
As a creative professional, I feel it is so important to take time to learn new techniques and nurture your creative soul. I did just that over the weekend with a group of some of the greatest photographers I know. Raye Law and Mindy Harris graciously agreed to travel to my studio and work with a group of us from across the US and Canada.
It was just what I hoped it would be….inspiring, overwhelming, tiring, and more fun that you can imagine! The weather was so beautiful and I feel inspired and ready to gear up for a busy spring season.
In an effort to solidify the experience for me, I am announcing a casting call for this Friday, March 18th. I am looking for two families to join me at a farm location on Friday afternoon at 5:30pm. You will receive a complimentary mini session and two digital files with print release. Here are the details/requirements:
*I am looking for a family with a mom, dad and child around 18 months of age and another family with a mom, dad and two children between the ages of 4 and 10.
*These will be family photographs only, no individual photos of the children will be taken.
*I will give you suggestions for the type of clothing to wear.
*All family members (including dad!) must be available for 30-40 minutes late this Friday afternoon.
*You will receive two digital files to thank you for your participation and the option to purchase anything else you’d like.
Please email julie@uppercasephotography.com immediately if you are interested.

Miss B’s name means beautiful and she certainly lives up to her name. Not only was she beautiful, she was one of the most content babies I’ve ever photographed. We made our way through set up after set up and B just never made a peep, peacefully settling into each pose.
Thanks so much to the M family for sharing you perfect bundle with me. I am looking forward to watching her grow!
A client stopped by the studio recently to pick up her order from her newborn session. I carried it down to the car for her and, of course, had to take a peek at her little man. I am still amazed every time at how quickly they change and grow! Right there in the car seat staring back at me was the reason I love capturing newborns. He had already changed so much since I captured his newborn images when he was 12 days old. But not to worry, because we were loading prints, digital files, storyboards, a beautiful album, and a large canvas into to car to help the family remember the curly, sleepy, tiny newborn stage (as well as provide beautiful art for their walls at home!)
And, oh my, what a beautiful newborn he was…
If you are interested in capturing such images of your tiny newborn as well, the best time to contact me is before you deliver your baby. We can prebook your session to ensure your little one has a spot on my calendar while they are still tiny, sleepy and curly. You can reach me via email at julie@uppercasephotography.com for more information.
In addition to newborn sessions, I am continuing to book all types of sessions for March through June and beach sessions for July and August. Contact me for additional information.

I am squeezing in a blog post tonight before a tidal wave of newborn goodness begins in the studio tomorrow. I can’t wait to meet all the many newborns that have arrived in the past week!
I encourage expecting clients to prebook their newborn sessions. By reserving your session before your baby arrives, you ensure a spot on my calendar. No one knows better than me that babies don’t always arrive on schedule, so an actual session date is not finalized until after your sweet bundle arrives.
However, sometimes parents don’t find me until after their baby arrives. When I can, I squeeze them into the schedule and I was so happy to squeeze in Miss E. She was such a dainty, girly little doll.
Miss E came back to the studio with her parents for their in person ordering session. Almost as much fun as capturing her images, was feeding and snuggling her as her parents perused their printed proofs. Can’t wait to see you again when you’re sitting, Miss E!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Give a few extra hugs and kisses from me to all my little Uppercase cuties. I know that won’t be a hard task!
On a day to celebrate love, let me just tell you how much I love what I do. Capturing those little things you love about your children brings me much joy and I am so blessed to do something I love each day. Now is it hard work with long hours and lots of challenges…of course, but it’s definitely worth it for me.
Instead of clients, today I am sharing hugs and kisses from my own little loves.
Yes, the oldest is missing though she does send her love. In case you haven’t heard, she is turning double digits this weekend and way too cool for Valentine’s day photos. :) Hopefully she will pose for some hip 10 year photos soon.
If you haven’t already, this is the last week to show your love for Uppercase Photography by casting your vote for “Best Family Photographer” at Triad Mom’s On Main. Click here to vote until Friday, February 18th. Encourage those you love to vote as well!

I was so thrilled when at B’s one year session I found out that his parents were expecting baby number two. Capturing Mr. B from his tiny newborn days all the way to a first birthday cake smash was just wonderful and the thought of doing it all over again with a new addition to their family just makes me giddy. So all fall I waited for the new arrival. As the weeks went by I found out the new baby would be a girl, yippee! Mom and I picked out special girly hats/props for her anticipated Christmas arrival. In November, the family stopped by the studio for a maternity session. I was amazed at how beautiful and glowing B’s mommy was with only a few weeks remaining until the new arrival.
The due date came and I pondered whether to email. I’ve been at the end of pregnancy a few times myself and there is nothing more annoying than everyone on the planet asking “Have you had the baby yet?” So I waited a bit, but did send the “Is she here yet?” email a few days later.
When baby E decided she would enter this world when she was good and ready, I had an idea that she and her brother B might have a few differences. At B’s newborn session, he never woke…sleeping peacefully through all the posing and moving. The new addition had other plans.
Meet the fiesty Miss E, making herself known as different from her brother and carving out her own little spot in this family:
Yes, she had us all working hard for these images…but just look at her. She was worth every single moment spent.
Sleeping with hands above her head was her signature move.
And of course my little buddy B joined in for a few.
Thank you S family for the honor of watching your little family grow. I can’t wait to capture baby E’s first year and continue to see her similarities and differences from her big brother.
